One king footprint. Two independent sides.

Two Twin XLs.
One split king.

Two nominal 38 × 80 inch Twin XL mattresses placed side by side make a 76 × 80 inch split king—the same footprint as a standard king.

Pair them with two compatible Twin XL adjustable bases so each person can raise or lower their side independently. Choose adjustable-compatible mattresses and confirm the dimensions and features of the complete setup with our team.

Twin is different from Twin XL

Two standard Twins make a nominal 76 × 75 inch surface. That is five inches shorter than a standard king, so they are not a standard split-king substitute.

Plan for bedding

A split king typically uses a Twin XL fitted sheet on each mattress. Check sheet depth against mattress thickness and ask about bedding that suits independent adjustment.

Choose for your room and your routine

Make room for your comfort.

Twin or Twin XL?

Both offer a compact width. Twin XL adds five inches of length, useful if a standard Twin feels too short. Check the frame length too.

Double or Queen?

A Queen is six inches wider and five inches longer than a Double. Consider both sleeping space and the room needed to walk around the bed.

Queen or King?

A standard King is sixteen inches wider than a Queen, with the same nominal length. Measure the larger frame footprint and your delivery route.

Measure once. Choose with confidence.

Before you order.

01 · THE BED

Measure the inside.

Measure the frame’s usable mattress opening, width and length. Check support requirements, height limits and the manufacturer’s size specifications.

02 · THE ROOM

Check everyday space.

Include the frame, bedside tables and open drawers. Leave comfortable walking space and clearance for doors, closets and an adjustable base’s movement.

03 · THE ROUTE

Plan delivery access.

Measure doorways, stair turns, hallways and elevator openings. Tell our team about tight access before scheduling delivery.

A little help choosing

Your size questions, answered.

Are Full and Double the same mattress size?

Yes. Full and Double commonly refer to the same nominal 54 × 75 inch mattress size.

Do two Twin XL mattresses make a king?

Yes. Two nominal 38 × 80 inch Twin XL mattresses side by side form a 76 × 80 inch split king. Confirm actual mattress and base dimensions before ordering.

Is a California King the same as a King?

No. A California King is nominally 72 × 84 inches, while a standard King is 76 × 80 inches. Frames and bedding must match. Contact us to confirm model availability or custom options.

Does mattress thickness change the size I need?

Thickness does not change nominal width or length, but it affects fitted-sheet depth, bed height, frame fit and adjustable-base compatibility. Check all three dimensions.

Can I get help choosing in-store?

Yes. Bring your measurements to our Victoria or Langford showroom. Call 250-894-9337 to confirm a particular model or size on display before visiting.
